We all agreed that the only perfect being is God. When we say God is perfect, this is not only in terms of His hand work, unparalleled attention to detail, sense of administration and organization, but unblemished spiritual being such that He is impossible to behold, describe and fathom. Psalms 18:30 “As for God, his way is perfect: The Lord’s word is flawless;….”
If perfection is part of God attributes why then we sometimes see perfectionist in a negative light?
When God created heaven and earth. He sat back, observed and reflected that it is perfect! Genesis 1:31 “God saw all that he had made, and it was very good…”
Can you similarly look at yourself, your attitude, work of your hands and feel good with it. If you are always being corrected by others, you need to examine yourself. You may be harboring the spirit of imperfection or wickedness. All imperfections in the world, wickedness and including afflictions are of the devil or Satan.
We know there is a learning curve in life. Someone once says “to err is human, but persistent mistakes is not short of human wickedness ”
As an extension of God’s DNA or His likeness, perfection should be part of human attributes.
Perfection is described in the dictionary as “highest degree of proficiency, skill, excellence as in some arts.”
It therefore follows that while we’re made perfect in Christ with grace. It’s not exclusive that we should look at perfection as unattainable in our daily life.
At the heart of every imperfection is a mediocrity, wickedness and repress will of a perfect God. He’s the King of kings and as a king in our own right, we are called to perfection.
So think again “when you say “I no go die!” or “nah me kill Jesus?” in frustration with your imperfections; that’s evil speaking. The Bible says that we should love our neighbors as our self. This is challenging us not only to be fair with each other, but perfect in love. If God’s perfect spirit operates in all of us, it follows whatever comes out of our mouth, our heart, hands are pure and perfect.
It’s no use to say we cannot be perfect or strive not to bother when our perfection is nothing in the sight of God. Imagine what a world it would be if we all try to be perfect for each other.
Imagine if God hasn’t created us humans perfect, most of us would have died at birth or blind from sunlight. Ask yourself where you are lacking in perfection, It’s not ungodly to be perfect. See Matthew 5:48 “Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.”
Think about it; how can you approach God or come into His presence with your imperfections. Needless to say His grace and mercy abound.
Remember, nobody comes before the king without looking his best how much more our Heavenly Father, the King of kings.
As we come into 2017, the issue is not simply about your heart desires, needs or “manna” from the throne of God.
But how to get rid of what is separating you from God.
If there is only one prayer I will encourage you to pray as we come to 2017. It is to give your heart/life without reservation in perfect relationship to God (How? see 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new) and all other things will be added unto you.
Finally brethren let’s remember Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”
